五福[Lucky Five]

In China, there is a custom to decorate “kissho character” in house holds. Images ,which associate with the character, are filled in the shape of the words to express its meanings. Knowing that, it allows people to put their mind into the character and decorate it in their home. This series consists of 5 pieces of the most blissful characters: Luck, Prosperity, Longevity, Double Happiness, and Enrichment.

寿[Longevity]

This particular piece decorates things that often associate with longevity ; pine, bamboo and Japanese Apricot, Crane- the symbol of long life, chrysanthemum and peach- foods for gods and immortals. 

一福/多福[One or All]

[福]”Fuku” has various meanings such as longevity, wealth, noble, and prosperity. Sometimes “Fuku” emerges as a whole, accumulating to structure various types of happiness that can be seen in different angles. This work is filled with the images derived from Fuku. It visualizes a relation between Fuku and oneself, profoundness of the character, and prayer for Happiness. This series comes with a set of two pieces.

In which way did you recognize the character[福]Fuku., when you look at this first? This is a series of collective letters of neon, which emerges on asphalt jungle. Looking from the above through the view point of birds, it brings out the happiness by the people of the people to the people. Even though nature has a rule that all are in the chain of life, urban citizens draw up a set of convenient rules and shout about environmental concerns, that consequently bringing happiness for all creatures.

In this, images of Lucky letters are structured by codes and switches. These objects are interwoven intricately like blood vessels as if it is a second heart.  While we rest, happiness continues breathing. This series comes with a set of two pieces.

倒福[ Dao-fu]

Fortune and emotion both flow onto the wave of electricity and come into our hand. There is a color format for happiness as if we express it in vision, for example, red for food, green for nature, or pink for feelings. What color will be used for the waves of electricity? Electricity is supplement to other things, thus, it doesn’t have a definite color. Although it may sound pessimistic, our life certainly leans toward happiness by these waves of electricity, and that this type of happiness seems to get easily tangled each other.
